Chandar works as a sustainability consultant at Metabolic. As a project manager he works with interdisciplinary teams on a wide range of projects for the public sector. Chandar focuses on policy advice, green public procurement, the development of monitoring systems to measure the effectiveness of policies and guide transition management, and circular area development. For this work Chandar draws on his academic background in policy and macro-economic sociology, over six years of experience in the field of sustainability, and previous experience in political campaigns at the national level.
Chandar was chairman of the cleantech playground and Living Lab De Ceuvel for 2.5 years. He got to experiment with circular innovation, circular business models and principles of circular design. All of this in collaboration with knowledge institutes, businesses, the government, entrepreneurs and citizens from surrounding neighborhoods.
Besides this, Chandar is the chairman of the first self-build housing cooperative of The Netherlands, Wooncoöperatie De Warren. De Warren develops 36 energy-positive and sustainable residences in Amsterdam for the social and mid-rental segment.
Chandar was chosen as one of the Duurzame Jonge 100 of 2016, an award for the 100 most sustainable, young changemakers and entrepreneurs of The Netherlands. The Duurzame 100 of newspaper Trouw nominated Chandar together with De Warren in 2019 and 2020.
